Description
Sweet Gum (Altingiaceae) got its name because the sap was used as gum by Native Americans and the early pioneers of North America. It’s in the Maple family, and picks up a lot of its color from the soil in which the trees grow. That is why no two slabs are alike, and why each one has quite a lot of grain variety. Use some to make a table, shelf, mantel, counter or bar top, or something entirely unique!
