White Ash is the perfect wood for you if you are looking for a simple, minimalistic wood that is still very strong. White Ash is a beautifully plain wood, with a straight grain that is pretty much consistent through the whole piece, however there are sometimes moderately curly or figured boards. It has a very strong shock resistance, making it ideal for baseball bats and tool handles. It is very easy to work with as well, making it ideal for rookies. It accepts a finish and glues and stains well. It also produces good results with lathes, hand tools, and machine tools. When stained, it resembles oak. Unfortunately, this admirable wood is not very rot-resistant, so it is not ideal for outdoor constructions.
